What is z.WIOS?

z.WIOS is the Windows Intelligent OCR Solution developed by Zendalona. It is a software application designed to convert images and printed material into editable text using a scanner or camera. With support for multiple languages and many accessibility features, z.WIOS is designed to be easy to use, especially for people who are visually impaired. 

How To Scan Using Scanner?

To start a new scan, press Control+N. This will announce the name of scanner which is detected. If the scanner is detected then to scan an image, press Alt+F to open the File menu. Use the arrow keys to go to Scan menu and use Tab key to navigate to Scan Image option. Press Enter to scan the image.

If you need to scan many documents, press Alt+F to open the File menu. Use the arrow keys to go to Scan menu and use Tab key to navigate to Scan Image Repeatedly option. Press Enter to start the process. This will scan all available documents converting the text into an editable format.

To scan and generate an OCR report, press Alt+F to open the File menu. Use the arrow keys to go to Scan menu and use Tab key to navigate to Scan and OCR option. Press Enter to start the process. The application will scan the document and generate a report with the recognized text.

If you need to scan and perform OCR on all documents, press Alt+F to open the File menu. Use the arrow keys to go to Scan menu and use Tab key to navigate to Scan and OCR Repeatedly option and press Enter to start the process. This will scan all available documents and perform OCR on them, converting the text into an editable format.

How To Import A PDF?

To import a PDF into z.WIOS, start by pressing Control + O on your keyboard to open a window containing your computer’s files and folders. Use Tab to reach the file list, then use the arrow keys to find your PDF’s folder and press Enter to open it. Use the arrow keys to select the PDF you want to import, and press Enter to add the PDF to z.WIOS.

How To Take Screenshot and Import it into z.WIOS?

To import a screenshot into z.WIOS, capture the screenshot by using Windows + PrintScreen for the full screen, it will be saved to the default Screenshot folder. Open z.WIOS, start by pressing Control + O on your keyboard to open a window containing your computer’s files and folders. Use Tab to reach the file list, then use the arrow keys to find the folder containing the screenshot. Press Enter to open it. Use the arrow keys to select the screenshot needed. Press Enter to add the screenshot to z.WIOS. A dialog box will pop-up asking whether you want to recognize the imported image or not. If you want to recognize the image use arrow keys to locate the Yes (also clear the previous text) option if you want to clear the previous text. Press Enter or use arrow keys to locate the Yes option and press Enter to attach the text recognized from this image with the text that is previously recognized. If you do not want to recognize the image, then use arrow keys to navigate to No option and press Enter.

How To Import Images into z.WIOS?

To import images into z.WIOS, start by pressing Control + O on your keyboard to open a window containing your computer’s files and folders. Use Tab to reach the file list, then use the arrow keys to find the folder containing the image needed. Press Enter to open it. Use the arrow keys to select the image, and press Enter to add the image to z.WIOS. Now a dialog box will pop-up asking whether you want to recognize the imported image or not. If you want to recognize the image use arrow keys to locate the Yes (also clear the previous text) option if you want to clear the previous text. Press Enter or use arrow keys to locate the Yes option and press Enter to attach the text recognized from this image with the text that is previously recognized. If you do not want to recognize the image, then use arrow keys to navigate to No option and press Enter.

Basic Utilities Of z.WIOS

• Undo: Press Control+Z to undo the last action.
• Redo: Press Control+Y to redo the last undone action
• Find: To find a word or character, press Control + F, type the word to find in the search menu. Then go through the list in the previous or next option to select the word to be found. Finally navigate to the close button and press Enter.
• Find and Replace: To replace word or character with another, press Control + R, type the word to find in the search menu, then use the tab to type the replacing word in the replace menu. Then go through the list in the previous or next option to select the word to be replace, use tab to navigate to the Replace option. Finally navigate to the close button and press Enter.
• Go to Line: To go to a line press Control+L. A dialog box will pop-up, where the line number is to be entered. Press Enter to go to that line.
• Go to Page: Navigate to the View menu by pressing Alt+V. Use the arrow keys to select Go to Page and press Enter. A dialog box will pop-up. Type the page number in the dialog box and press Enter to go to the page.
• Preferences:To open preference press Control + P. Use the right arrow or left arrow to navigate through the three pages called, General page, Recognition page and Scanning page.
• General: General page have two options called Font and theme. Use the Tab key to navigate through the two options.
• Recognition: In the Recognition page ensure that the Engine option is set to tesseract. Then, going down, there are three language selection boxes. Here, we can update the desired languages. We must set the Mode of Rotation option in z.WIOS. A visual impaired can set the full automated only. Next, we must set the Angle option. If it is zero degree it only scans a single page, if it is ninety degree it scans the two consecutive pages of a material. If we scan a single page the Page numbering type option is single, if it is two consecutive pages then it is double. Remember one thing try to enter the same page number in z.WIOS as the material you are scanning.
• Scanning: Scanning page allows us to set the resolution, brightness, etc. Resolution option is set to three hundred as default, but it must be reduced to two hundred, because in tesseract engine two hundred is enough to get the correct output. Brightness is an important setting of the process. This feature is entirely dependent on the scanned paper quality. If the scanned paper has enough shine and smoothness the brightness can be reduced to thirty or forty range. If the paper is very rough, we must increase the brightness for better output.

Additional Utilities Of z.WIOS

Bookmark: Open the document. Move to the spot in the workspace area you want to bookmark using Tab key, press Control + B to open the Bookmark dialog. Now enter the line number where the Bookmark is to be created, and press Enter to create the Bookmark. Note that you must first save the text recognized text to Bookmark it. To save the text press Control + S and press enter.

Bookmark Table: To Bookmark a Table, press Alt+F to open the File menu. Use the arrow keys to go to Tools menu and use Tab key to go to Bookmark Table option. Press Enter to open the Bookmark Table dialog. Select the bookmark needed from the listed bookmarks.

Import Bookmarks: To Import a Bookmark press Alt+F to open the File menu. Use the arrow keys to go to Tools menu and use Tab key to go to Import Bookmarks option. Press Enter, now a window containing your computer’s files and folders will pop-up. Use Tab to reach the file list, then use the arrow keys to find the folder containing the bookmark needed. Press Enter to open it. Use the arrow keys to select the bookmark. Press Enter to import the Bookmark.

Bookmark Table Complete: To Bookmark a Table as complete press Alt+F to open the File menu, use the arrow keys to go to Tools menu and use Tab key to go to Bookmark Table Complete option. A dialog box will pop-up containing all the bookmarks. Select a bookmark to mark as complete and press Enter.

Stop All Process: Press Control+F4 to stop all ongoing processes
